Overview
This volume indexes the final roll of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in North Carolina. This 1924 "final" roll contains 3,146 names of persons accepted by Mr. Fred A. Baker and the enrolling commission as members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, as well as those who were not accepted. Contains both an alphabetical index and the actual roll as published numerically. The tribe continued the use of this roll as their base roll. Descendents of those persons are enrolled in the "Baker Revised Roll," providing they meet the membership requirements.
About the Author: Bob Blankenship is Eastern Band Cherokee and is serving his sixth term as a Tribal Council Member. He is publisher of five books on Cherokee genealogy and is the President of the Museum of the Cherokee Indians.
ATC Recommendation: This book is an excellent start if you are researching Cherokee roots in North Carolina. The book is a detailed index of the Baker Rolls and includes a lot of helpful data points to compare against your family tree. ~Christina Berry, All Things Cherokee
