Query: Seeking information about my great-grandmother Mary Magdalene Love Harris, born 12/15/1862, adopted by James Love and Nicy Hallmark Love abt 1868-69 in Bastrop County Texas. Married James W Pius Harris abt 1883 in Texas. Am told Mary Magdalene was Cherokee but have found it impossible to find any information about her life before 1880, the first time she appears on the federal census. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Query: So, Great-grandfather said he was half Cherokee. We can not find him on any roll. There is no hint of Cherokee on his father’s side. We know very little about his mother except for her name, birthdate, and parents names. She died in 1873 in Tennessee. Where do we go from here? Is it even possible to prove he was half Cherokee with this little information?

Query: I am at a dead end. Looking for CELIA P BOLIN or BOWLING born in 1886 in North Carolina. My family thinks her exact birthday is Oct. 28, 1886. Some records say born in 1885. She married JOHN L WALKER on Nov. 1, 1903 in Rutherford, North Carolina. CELIA BOLIN’S father was born in Georgia, her mother was born in North Carolina, no one knows their names. Query: My Great Great Grandfather is Tommie STEWART of NC/Keystone WV to the 5th STEWART Reservation in the 1800’s. He left the reservation with about 5 other families and together they settled the Friendship township which is now called New Hill, NC. Tommie owned the 1st saloon in Friendship called the “Friendship Saloon” located on Old Smithfield Rd. and Old US1. This is as much info as I have right now but I would love to know if anyone has any more info about him and his family as well what are the first steps I should take to prove my heritage? Linda Mumpower

Query: My family ancestry, on my fathers side, Franklin Roosevelt Mumpower, traces back to a Cherokee Indian Chief. I am searching for information on Chief White Cloud and Fawn White Cloud. They had a daughter, Rebecca McCloud (1825-1889) who married Samuel Mumpower (1818-1896). Samuel Mumpower’s father was Robert E. Mumpower. My dad was born in Saltville, Virginia in 1937. His parents were Sherman Theodore Roosevelt Mumpower and Bertha Sullins Mumpower. They later moved to Abindgon, Virginia. My grandmother Bertha Sullins Mumpower, was also Cherokee, but I have not been able to gather any information.

Query: It is said in our family that the wife, Jane ?, of David D. Cutbirth (born about 1831 in Indiana) was full blood Cherokee. At 19 he was in the 1850 census in McDonald County, Missouri. He and Jane married about 1852. By 1853 they were in Texas county, Missouri. Their child, Mary Elizabeth Cutbirth (DOB 4/14/1856) was my GGgrandmother. She died 9/20/1918 in Marlow, Oklahoma. I am trying to find any proof of our Cherokee heritage. Thank You.

Query: I want to know about my grand father and his family. All I know is that he was African American from cherokee Alabama. His name was Robert Goodloe. People called him Honey Goodloe. He married Jessy May Cooper. To the Marriage they had: Dovella, Kate, Philip, Rufus, Eugen, Ann, Marion Goodloe. He died when my mother was 9 years old. I am is first grand daughter and the oldest daughter of Dovella Goodloe-Swinney. I would like help developing my geneology.

Query: I am looking for information on a relative Elizabeth Dismukes who appeared on the 1870 census Davidson Co tn. mulatto age 16 living in the household of Elizabeth Dismukes widow of Paul Dismukes. I can not find her on later census. what happen to her? I know some other family members sirname Dismukes and Mays migrated from tn. to Phillips co Ar. in the 70’s. Query: Great-grandmothers birth name was Myrtle Slinkard (Minnie Myrtle). Her mothers maiden name was Dennis. Mother was full Cherokee and father was 1/2 to full. She was born in Aug. 1883 in Oklahoma. As a young girl was “farmed out” to a family named Shugart in MO. Natural parents died before 1900. After parents death she went to live with Dennis family (uncle) in Cripple Creek, CO. She shows up there in 1900 records with sister name Dora. Any info would be helpful.
