Query: I note that a query was ask in 2008 about George COX, Samuel COX and James COX of GA. Info was ask on James and statement made that James was a Poligamist had 2 families. I have a gr grandfather that I have been looking for his family up to 10 years. I have his name, wife and children in Pickes Co SC in 1900. He was reportedly married 4-5 times. I am looking into the same possibilities due to multiple marriages (relationships) and several children. I know my grandfather was said to have Cherokee Indian blood in his lineage. He had many distintive Indian features as did his eldest brother Warren COX. Henry James COX married Minnie ADAIR in Pendelton Dist SC about 1890. He had several children that were recorded to be his with Minnie. They separated (verbal history) cir. 1897 but I don’t know if that is a formal divorce or just did not live together. I do know he is married to Lila (Lillie) BROWN COX in 1896/97 and it shows they had kids lliivng with them in Pendelton Dist SC in 1910. He then disappears and children remain with Lila B COX. The ADAIRS, Minnie and parents leave SC and move to Pickens Co Ga and Minnie takes son Louis Vernon COX with her to Pickens Co GA but leaves son Warren with Henry. She remarries to a LEDBETTER in Cherokee/Pickens Co GA sometime in early 1900. Any help on possibly linking these COX‘s to Cherokee Indian heritage might be very helpful. Any one have suggestions. I have been at a road block to find family of Henry COX his parents or sibllings. Is it possible he had multiple families at the same time? Completly stumped in GA.
