Query: Searching for Cherokee family named McLemore in Arkansas. Family of Wall, Hamby, and McLemore moved from Alabama to Booneville, Logan County, AR. Searching for family of Reuben Bramlett, b. 1820 in Northwest Georgia. His family appears in the book “Whites Among the Cherokee” His brother and sister are listed in the “Poor School” in 1837 in Floyd County. I think perhaps his father was White and his mother Cherokee. Unable to find this family in regular census. I thought perhaps they were not counted because they were in Cherokee terribory, or were not listed in the white census because of Cherokee family relationship.

Query: I am looking for any information on my great grandmother and grandmother. My g.grandmother’s name is India Lisk. The only info I have on her is, she spoke Native American. She had (I think) 13 or 15 children. I don’t know her husbands name. But, I do know that he had a stroke or something, and she raised the kids, kept the farm going. He lived in bed for 14 years before he died. Also, I am looking for her daughter Matilda Lisk. I don’t know any married names. The grandkids called her “big momma”. The Native Americans (Cherokee) called her “Tillie Dolphin”. Not sure of the spelling. She was b. around 1888 she died early 1950’s. I understand her people were from the “Gulf Hammock” of Florida. She raised a boy that was left with her, his name was Howard Skayling. He died on his 21’st birthday, crossing the road. She had her own children too. My grandmother was one her name was Willie Morris. Morris by marriage. I was told she had 15 children, 13 boys and 1 girl (Willie), twins that died. Before she died she ran a boarding house in Florida. Possibly Mulberry. Her death was questionable. I know that Matilda had a green card, or maybe a naturalization card. Not sure, but she didn’t have a ssc. Does any of this sound familiar to you? If so, please forward more. I can not find anything!

If you have connection to Thornton, Riley, McLaughlin, Crow or Carruthers, or know her last name would like to hear from you. She may have had a daughter named Nancy Mayer b ca. 1814 who applied through her mother Naoma Thornton. Names posted here lived around each other forever in Ark and maybe in Indiana or TN and intermarried. On my other side of family: Isaac Guess born around 1829 in Ms. and moved to Texas, my ancestor. Query: My name is Debra Lea Allen (maiden name Mellott). I am so lost, I was born in Pennsylvania in 1966, and moved to Washington State in 1972. I knew none of my family. My Grandmother, who died from the birth of my father, was Cherokee. But I cannot find her. Her name was Mary Ivadene McKinney. It is about half way down the page. Her fathers name was Bill (William?) McKinney, and Myrtle Croyle was her mother. Bill and Myrtle were married, but Bill was still married to another woman, so the marriage was annulled. They had two children, Mary Ivadene, and Gladys, McKinney. I have no dates for the people, but I know they were from Cypher, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Mary McKinney was born probably around 1907, and died March 28, 1935. Myrtle Croyle later went on and married Lloyd C. Foor, and had more children. I also have the names Jolly and Kelly from my Mother side of the family. James Clyde Kelly d. 2-3-86, was my Grandfather, his mother was Clarissa Jane Jolly. Can you help me find my Cherokee roots?
