Query: My mother was Helen Roberta Shultz and she was born in Ellsworth, Kansas. Her mother was Roberta Swafford who was born in Ray County, MO. My mother passed away in 1954 when I was a child but she told me that my grandmother was Cherokee. I contacted Ray County, MO and found that all birth records for 1890, when my grandmother was born (according to my mother’s birth certificate) were destroyed by fire in 1910. I’m looking for my Grandmother’s ancestry. Thanks for any help.

Query: Looking for any information on mother Willie Mae Lee. She was born in Chickasha OK to Lewis Lee and Nellie Worthy on 2-26-1907. Nellie died after giving birth I am told. She had a half brother named Robert Lee. Willie was of Cherokee heritage. She lived with Lewis Busby family sometime after she was 5, also the Roberts, or Robinson family of OK. I would assume she was related to these families. Willie married at 16 due to being pregnant by someone she lived with, and was married to an older man of 60, the baby was dead at birth, and George Hess, or George Busby died. She worked as housekeeper for different people untill she met my dad. I don’t know what happened to her father, someone mentioned she had a young stepmother, who was mean to her and someone took her from them, possibly the Busby family. You could tell mom was part indian. When she was 5 she was blond headed but as she grew older she had dark hair her eyes were a lovely blue color. I saw a picture of her and family when she was 5, her father dressed in dark suit the lady dressed in white and a baby laying on her lap, and mom in the background. Would love to hear from someone who can tell me about her family. Just to know what is true about her parents. Joyce {a Lee-hargis] Keys. Phone no.661-256-7196

Query: I am trying to help my husband trace his heritage. It has been quite difficult. His Great, Great Grandfather was accused of stealing a horse during the civil war and escaped prosecution. We are unsure of the exact location he came from but know that he changed his name to WADE in Charleston, SC. It was a common name at that time and didn’t stand out. Any tips on how to get past the name change? I have more specific details for someone who may be able to help.

Query: Looking for any info on Paul William Chek, my paternal grandfather, said to have died at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and said to be full Cherokee. My father died in 1969 and I don’t know where his mother is or if she is even still alive for info. My grandparents weren’t married and my mom only ever saw a picture of my grandfather and she said he was definately indian. I figure that my grandfather must have been close to his early 20’s in 1941 when he died. My father was born in Oct 1941, the son of Paul chek also named the same as his father. I think my grandfather was born in California but not for certain. I desperately need help finding some clues.
