Query: Seeking info on Elizabeth Feathers. When I was very young my great grandmother Laura Pocahantas Lanningham Rogers told me that her 3rd. Greatgrandmother was full blooded Cherokee. He was in the confederate Army in New Madrid Missouri, He married a full blooded Cherokee Woman and I’m looking for her name, He is one of my great grandfathers and I’m trying to get my CIB. We believe they were married in Brazil, Indiana, he was known as a great friend to the Cherokee and I believe they called him Two Feathers, His son was John T. Query: Iam looking for information on a man said to have fathered a son in 1962 with my grandmother Margaret Gerhart that I believe lived in Virginia at the time when my father Leland Thomas was born. I have been told that his name is Morris Hicks, and he is said to have been full blooded Cherokee Indian. I don’t have much info past the fact that he was (Morris) from North Carolina and I believe that he served in the naval service in the late 50’s and early 60’s. My father was adopted by my grandmothers husband when my father was like 2 years old. I am trying to figure out my family tree and now that I have 3 kids I would relly like more info for medical reasons if anyone one has anything that can help me please, my grandmother has been very tight lipped about this and I’ve really been trying to figure out my genealogy for a very long time.

One of the young HORN men fell in love with an Indian girl (sid to be a princess) and they were married either on the trail or at the end. Query: My Husbands Grandfather, Joseph Elwood Tate, was bought off of a reservation at 7 or 9 yrs of age. He was born in the late 18oo’s, we are not sure of the date. He was bought as a slave or for labor and we think that is how he has the “Tate” name. The reservation was on the Missouri/Arkansas border. He married Elsie Godwin, as far as we know. My Husbands Father’s birth certificate was burned in a fire, so we do not have any information at all. His Mother also had quite a bit of cherokee blood, but we know her parents names. My husbands father’s name was Joe Willie Tate, and my Husbands name is John Wayne Tate. My husband was born in Orange, Calif. and Joe Willie was born in Knoble, Arkansas? Query: I have followed my husband’s geneology back to Nancy “Nuche” Bearpaw (born approx 1775), who married Joseph Proctor (1764-1843). They had at least one child – Lucy BearPaw Proctor (1797-1852), who married James Edward Thomas (1795-1836). Lucy and James were part of the Trail of Tears. James died on this march and Lucy was able to escape with her ten children and move to KY. I’d LOVE to learn more about Lucy’s parents and their line.

Patton born in Illinois in 1861 and Letha Elizabeth Phipps born in Danville Illinois in February 1866. Minnies parents were Marion L. Leonard born in Missouri in April 1845 and Clara Jane Smith born in Indiana in March 1872. Gerge’s granfather was Squire Patton born in Tennessee in 1829. Query: Looking For information on Sarah Fuqua, (Approx DOB 1850) and info on Joseph Fuqua Hughes DOB 1889, I am told Sara Fuqua is part Cherokee. Joseph Hughes Wife, Ida Lou Edmondson, Died while delivering their 8th child around 1925. After the death of his wife, Ida Lou. Family members cared for the other children in TN and Joe went to the reseveration and stayed for many years, maybe 10 years before leaving. After leaving he remarried and moved to Vero Beach FL. Joseph Fuqua Hughes was the Son of Sara Fuqua & Samuel Carson Hughes. Joseph Hughes is my Grandfather. I only got to know my Grandfather for a short time when I was young, but I will never forgot the love and kindness in the man. I would like to know more about him, his past, and his mother to pass down to his Grandchildren and their children.

Query: I’m trying to make the Brock/Bushyhead connection in my family genealogy. My gr, gr, grandfather was James L Brock who I’m told was the grandson of Chief Bushyhead. I’m told that James’ grandfather was found along a wagon train trail by the Brock family. He was an Indian child with bushy hair and was named Bushyhead. I can find nothing to support this family tale and almost everything to dispute it but I would still like to know if the Brock family is in anyway connected to Bushyhead and if so, how. Her marriage license says she was born in Missouri about 1881. She married Levi Stinson probably born in Illinois. They were married in Clark Co. Missouri. That is as much as I know other than the names of their children: Lawrence, Lora, Otis, Gertrude, George, John, Floyd (my grandfather) and Hazel. Query: My g-grandmother’s father was Joseph Ravia and her mother was said to be Amanda Almon, a Cherokee. My g-grandmother’s name was Mary Ida Ravia Harkins Shelton Speaks. She was born in 1867 and died in 1952. I have found information about her beginning in 1893 when she married J.T. Speaks but have not been able to find anything about her before 1893. I cannot find her marriage to Shelton recorded. The family story is that she left her family around 1880 and moved in with a Harkins family and took their name at that time. Her father remarried to Mollie Moore in Ravia, Oklahoma (Indian Territory) in 1880 and that is why she left home. She continued living around the Tishomingo/Ravia–Johnston/Bryan County area for the remainder of her life. If you can help me find out anything about her life before 1893, I would so appreciate it.

Query: In November 2007, I wrote a query trying to prove that my mother’s lineage had Cherokee lineage. Below is my lineage. Wally Caviness of WA, Edith Marie Evans Caviness of AR, Robert Wiley Evans if TN. Francis Elnora Little Evans of Tn. Isaac Little of Tn. Nancy Hickey Little, daughter of Cornelius and Juda or Judah (no last name Hickey of VA. I have pictures of Isaac, Francis Elnora, Francis’s sons and daughter,my mother and myself. Isaac was 6’4″, blue eyes, high cheekbones and of dark brown complexion. His grandchildren have the same features. I have talked with several descendents of John and Nancy little and they have some of the same features as Isaac. Query: Wanda Nevada Morton was my grandmother, her grandmother was a Cherokee Indian named Juanita who had a boarding house in Campbells Creek, WV. The James Gang stayed there in September and October of 1875. My grandmother’s father was named Jesse James Morton. I have 3 grandchildren who’s mother is from the Redman family also American Indian. It would be greatly appreciated if they could recieve some of the benefits mentioned. Also my other grandmother Agnus Daniels I was told was from Apache Ancestry. Her mother was a French Canadian named Emmeretta. If anyone could help me in this search I would be so grateful. I have no idea where to begin.
