Query: WRIGHT/COLE/EVERETT/MATHIS I am trying to find more information about my indian heritage. I have hit a blank wall on the side of the family that is said to have the indian blood, the Everett side. I was told that my ggrandma, born Lillie Alice EVERETT,(dob June 1893 in Cedartown, Georgia and died Aug. 1968 in California) was one quarter cherokee. She was born to John Franklin EVERETT(b.abt 1865 Georgia,d.abt 1930 Poplar Bluff, MO) and Nancy Caroline MATHIS(b Georgia?,d. abt 1905). Lillie married Edward COLE(supposedly from France) in Lousiana June 1910 at the Parish of Rapides. They had a daughter, my grandma, and named her Mattie Lillian COLE(b. 1911 in LeCompte,Louisiana). Edward COLE left them when Mattie was around 3yrs old. Mattie married my grandpa Tidy Franklin WRIGHT in Kentucky 1930. She had 4 surviving children, one of which was my dad. I was told that John Franklin EVERETTs father may have died in the civil war. I would appreciate any help or contact.

Query: I am looking for LYDIA HESTER HAIS SHARP’S parents. She was born in NOrth Carolina around 1848. It is believed her father was cherokee. His name believed to be Calvin or E A (Ezra). I found them on the 1850 census with a E A Sharp, with no adult female. I found them on the 1860 census with Cal sharp. But they are only 5-7 years older than in 1850. They moved to Mississippi. Where Lydia was married and then ended up in Texas after the death of her husband. I am also looking for information on Lydia’s mother. Also named in house on census’ are: LAFAYETTE, MINERVA, AMELIA, EZRA, SARA AND VICTORIA- OTHERS I CANT READ. (I believe her mother might be Asenath King).

Query: I am looking for Elizabeth BLUE, born 12-1-1886 in Lawson, Ray County, Missouri. She died 4-24-1924. At Rootsweb and Family Search (LDS) she is listed as Elizabeth Sultania THOMPSON. Elizabeth THOMPSON or BLUE was married to William Henry HATFIELD. She is listed as Elizabeth BLUE on her daughter’s death certificate. Also, on the death certificate under her name “Eliz. was 1/2 Cherokee Indian” was written. I also have her father as David THOMPSON. I haven’t found any records pertaining whether she is or isn’t indian. Through family mentionings, I have heard the name Bear Paw. Bear Paw was also amoung our family members, but haven’t found anything on him or how is fits into the picture. Please help.

Query: I have a problem. I’m trying to retrace my Cherokee heritage, but when I get to my great grandparents it gets confusing. It seems my grandfather (H. Bridges) married a woman named Jessie who was Cherokee. However, she died after my grandmother was born and he married ANOTHER woman named Jessie. They lived in Headley Texas, but because of the two Jessie’s (and not knowing their maiden names) it’s proving almost impossible to trace. I know there is a strong Native American line there, because my grandmother and her sister used to get payments from the government…Any ideas?

Had two sons James, my great grandfather an supposely a brother Sherman…Any information would be helpful..We know that my Grandmother Thena had a picture of a full bloodied Cherokee woman she said was a grandmother but never said wether it was hers or my grandfathers after researching my grandfathers side we realize it could not have been his, but we have no information on Honer other than name an birth year an that she was from Ohio area….

Query: I have been doing genealogy research for the past five years, and although I was told that I am of Cherokee descent, I have not been able to find any proof of that. Does anyone have information on Redman (Redmon, nickname “Red”)Pippin from Jackson, Tennessee, later living in the Todd County area of southern Kentucky? He married a woman named Anthy (Anthalene) Thompson or Thomason. He was born around 1865, and was supposed to be Native American, but we can find no proof. Would appreciate any information. Thanks!

Query: My grandmother was born in James Co. Tenn. April 12, 1904. Her name was Carrie Ellen MILLER. She had a sister in N. Carolina named Dovie Coleman. Her father was a twin. Both boys were adopted. Their names were Madison Seth (Monroe?) MILLER and William MILLER. Madison (Matt) died young in a logging accident. His wife later remarred. Her name was Eliniel(Lemal) Tenn PICKEL. Query: In 1914 or so my great grandfather John Fortner ran away. Had 8 children and not much money. This is a copy of a letter my greatgrandmother received. It says he is a widower. Fortner and Barefoot Walthall,Miss. Nov. 20 J.W.Fortner of Chickasaw Co. and Mrs. Sallie Barefoot of Dancey in Webster Co. were married at the brides home last week, the groom is a widower, and the bride is the widow of the late J.J.
