My husband has a great great grandfather that was a Cherokee minor Indian chief, he was registered in Kentucky, his name is Rollie high tower, we found the last name now we are trying to connect the dots. Our children were removed from us and placed in foster homes that are not of American Indian though they knew of our heritage for a very long time. Query: My great great grandfather John Walden Simpson was born in 1803. I am told that he was taken by a group of renagade Cherokee Indians who came from Virginia (now West Virginia). John W. Simpson was raised by the indians and latter married a Rhoda Webb who was previously married to a Cherokee Indian in Wyoming County West Virginia. I am told that this was supposed to have been during the great Trail of Tears and the Indians remained in hiding in the mountains of what is now West Virginia. I am trying to validate this information.

My father looks very Native American. Him and his sister have told me that we have a good amount of Native American in us. Query: I was adopted and I recently got in touch with my birthmother. She told me that my biological father is half Cherokee, since his mother was full-blood. My birthmother has not been in touch with my birthfather since before I was born, which was 20 years ago. All I have of my birthfather is his name. I do not know anything else about him accept his age. I want to somehow find him or his mother, whose name I do not know, and register with the tribe but I do not know how to go about this. I was wondering if you have any advice for me or could maybe point me in the direction of someone who might be able to help. I am aware of the ICWA and I know this will be a tricky situation but it really means a lot for me to be registered with my tribe. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Query: I’m looking for my ggg grandpa John BARNHART’s wife name. I believe she is of some Indian relation because we all have a darker complexion, darker eyes, and darker hair. I know that she died sometime in the 1860s or somwhere around that era. He served and gave his life in the Civil War and had at least one son also named John who moved from Ohio as a kid with his uncle and grandfather to Cheyenne County, Kansas where he established the family ranch and had 6 kids, 4 survived. Harvey, my g grangather, had 7 kids with Irene MOORE BARNHART until she died in the 1935 flood, he then married Fern PRICE with whom he had one son with. My grandfather, Jerdene BARNHART, farmed and ranched there with his wife Barbara CLOUSE and had 6 kids.
