His name was Randolph (Rand) Jefferson Barnett. I’m not sure in the birth but it was told to me that he was around 100 when he died in 1956-57 in Illinois. He had 4 sons: Liston, Theodore, Lyman, Wilmer (twin died at birth). 3 Daughters: Anis, Jewell, Pansy. I don’t know any more than that except that we was born around 1850-60 and he was suppose to come from E. Ky., West. My Father Liston brought him to Ill. in 54-55. I do have 1 photo of us together when I was 6 or 7 and he does look as if he has Indian linage. He always slept with his socks on? A weird thing to remember but thats reality.

He had 14 children, per my research, six of his sons are named in “Cherokee application 43336.” Also, how do I find this registration? His wife was Sara (Howard) Risner. Parents were: Michael (died about 1805 Knox Co. KY) Cahtherine (Sexton?) Risner. Sons were: James, William, Elias, Jacob, Archibold, John, Michael, Issac, Abraham possibly another. We had always heard that we had Indian Blood, but, were unable to find the connection. So far, can’t track the location or existence of this application. Floyd County KY in 1820 was also mentioned. We live in Ohio. To add some humor, when I was little, I always wanted to be a Indian when I grew up. If you ask, I’ll explain that one. Thank You for creating these links helping with the research.

Mother’s name (according to possible census match)was Sarah, age 22 in 1860. Child’s name was Mary, age 1 in 1860. William Dollar was later taken by white people into MO and was found there with the Dave George family in 1910 census. Dave George’s wife’s name was Ella. William Dollar’s social security application lists his father as Neal Dollar and his mother as Ella Collum. This 1860 census information is the only Neal Dollar I have ever been able to find anywhere. I know he was in the right area to be Cherokee, as well as to where William Dollar was born. Query: Family history from many sources say that our gggg-grandmother was Cherokee; she was given the name of Elizabeth/Betty and raised in a Miller household. She had at least four children who kept the Miller name; she then married Robert McVey in Greenbriar County, Va 11/11/1847 and relocated to Floyd County, Ky where her daughter, Elizabeth McVey was born. Betty Miller has been described by those who saw her as being very petite, dark and lovely. She was raised from childhood as Elizabeth Miller in the Ashe County, NC area. A George Miller applied for guardianship for her; her date of birth is right about 1815. Would dearly love to know how this little girl came to be alone in that area and from what tribe she would have been a part of. Thank you so much for reading and hopefully someone, somewhere will be able to give us a lead.

Query: My family recently found out that my Great-great-greatgrandmother, Rachel Burnham Fisher, was of 100% Native American descent. I was close to my maternal Greatgrandfather who often told tales of going to the Indian Nations with his Grandmother. I know that he was raised near the Oklahoma Territory in the mid to late-1800’s. A cousin of ours from out in Oregon has been trying to research our heritage. We seem to keep running into walls when it comes to locating the Native American Nation that our Great-great-greatgrandmother belonged to. We aren’t interested in claiming any tribal funds or rights, we simply would like to know what Native American Nation our heritage is with. I chose the Cherokee Nation to start my queries with, because you are a large Nation and I hope that someone can help me. We simply want to know who we belong to. I sincerely hope that you can help us with our questioning. Thank you so much for anything that you can do for us.
