Query: Looking for info on my ggg grandmother. Her first name was Biddie. Her tombstone gives her date of birth as March 10, 1812. Her place of birth on census records is given as NC and TN. I believe she married a Schrimsher (Scrimsher) sometime between 1828-1833. She had a daughter named Mary Jane who was born 1834, not sure if in TN or NC. She married Wallace Creasman May 10, 1839 in Monroe County TN. My great grandfather (her grandson) told my mother that his mother and grandmother (Mary Jane and Biddie) were Cherokee and that Biddie had married a soldier assigned to the Cherokee removal (Wallace Creasman). I have verified all the info he provided to my mother back to the marriage of Wallace and Biddie. However, I haven’t been able to find anything on either Biddie or Mary Jane prior to 1839.

Query: I am trying to find any information on my grandmothers father his given name was Augusta G. from Yazoo City, Mississippi, it is hard to find any information because we understand that his leaving on the underground railroad with a baby daughter named Sara, was because the master of the plantation wanted to keep the baby and mother as his own (baby) because she was fair with blue eyes, the was not his child but he was in love with her mother and ran away with both to missouri, and married, he had children and forbide them to mention his past, because he wanted for battery against the plantation owner can anyone help with this as everyone has been forbidden to speak of it. Augusta G. Became Augustus Summers and went on to help build and preach in the Church of God in St. Louis Missouri CoteBrillant and far as we can tell there is only one picture of him and it is a profile of him breaking ground on the church, any information would help us put together a family History Thank You.

Query: I am trying to verify the Cherokee heritage of my grandmother Hannah Spence of Miami, Kanawha county, West Virginia. This is her married name. I am unsure of her maiden name but it may be Hannah Ball or Hannah Baugh. It seems that her records were destroyed in a fire at the county courthouse so I am told, but even this is uncertain. She was born November 15, 1889 and died June 15, 1969. She was very quiet about her heritage and never would admit it to anyone, she was ashamed though I don’t understand why. If anyone has any information please e-mail it to me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Query: Trying to confirm my Cherokee roots. Oral family history is that my relative, Thomas Walter NOLAND (1879-1910) was 1/4 or 1/2 Cherokee. He was born and died in Tuolumne County, CA. We believe his Cherokee roots come from his mother, Mary T. WALTON (1855-1921), who was born in Texas and died in Sonora, CA. Mary’s father was Thomas Jesse Walton (1832-1879) and her mother was Amanda Fidelia DORSETT (1839-1910), who was born in Texas, but lived in Broom Town Valley, GA and Cherokee, TX, before marrying Walton in 1854 and moving to California in 1857. I would appreciate all leads and your tips for conducting further research. Thanks!
