Query: I am looking for anyone with information about relations of a Cherokee girl named Linna Johnson who left Tennessee in 1837 for Missouri. She is my great great grandmother. I believe it was Macon Missouri that she settled at. She was born in 1825 in Tennessee or possibly North Carolina. She married Martin Lynch.

Query: My ggg-grandmother Nancy GILBERT was born 1800 in Tennessee or South Carolina, married my ggg-grandfather Zachariah GOFORTH Jr. in Wayne Co.TN. about 1840. She had 10 children, 6 girls and 3 boys from 1820 to 1835, 1 boy born in Blount Co. TN. in 1826 another somewhere in TN. in 1834 After Z.G. died it was said she moved to Alabama with 3 sons and 1 daughter or Mississippi or both and went back to TN. and died. Several posts on boards from Goforth family members say she was Cherokee. There is a Nancy Frances Gilbert of Alabama on the Guion-Miller roll, don’t know if she is the same. My gg-grandfather George Washington Goforth is listed on Arkansas Confederate record as dark complexion however the 1870 Mississippi census lists him as white. His brother Zachariah Dangler Butler “Grey Tail” ran a Choctaw Trading Post in Meridian, MS and is mentioned as being 1/2 Osage (I believe this is incorrect) and his daughter as Cherokee. Another brother John Jerdan ran a Choctaw Trading Post in Rankin Co. MS. and married a Choctaw. I have searched online records and I’m not finding anything saying Cherokee. I’m just looking for proof.

Query: I am looking for information about Louise Jones, a full-blooded Cherokee woman who was married to John Hildreth Bell of Alabama (c. 5/18/1878-10/16/41). Her name could possibly be spelled “Louis” and it is even possible her name was “Ida Jones.” The children of John and Louise were named Roy C. Bell and Ottie Bell, also born (supposedly) in Alabama. Louise died in childbirth in approximately 1901. I would like to know more about her Cherokee lineage, which is proving hard to find! If someone could provide her birth/death dates–or even better, tribal affiliation–I would be so grateful!!

Query: Updated info: Last query was in Jan. 2009, which consisted of the following: Looking for any information on my great grandmother Mary Stewart/Stuart [not sure of spelling of last name], was told by family we were of the Eastern Band and that her Cherokee name was Prairie Flower. She was born July 1872[3]and living around the Portsmouth, OH. area. Married a man from Kentucky; Millard Easom, had 3 children, and died in 1904 during childbirth. She also had sisters, but not sure of their names. One was Eliza/Elisia, and the other I think was Cora. Would appreciate any help if any of these names sound familiar.
Found out that Mary’s last name was actually Ford, and her sister Cora was married twice; Cora Scott & then Cora Lewis. Received info from a relative that Cora visited one of the Reservations in Oklahoma every year. Cora had two daughters; Violet and Gladys. Last know address for Cora was in Pittsburgh, PA. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Query: I’m looking for any/all information anyone may be able to offer concerning my grandmother’s ancestry. Her maiden name was HILDRED VEOLA WIGGINGTON. Hildred was born 03/28/1916 in Tishomingo County, Mississippi, and passed away 10/19/2009 in Sun City, Maricopa County, Arizona. She was (I am told) at least half-Cherokee. Her mother’s maiden name was JENEVA (AKA “GENEVA” or “GENEVIA”) FLORENCE ANN BUTLER, and I believe Jeneva was also born in Mississippi. From what I have found, I suspect Jeneva was full-blood Cherokee. Hildred’s father was JOSEPH WIGGINGTON (AKA “WIGGINTON”) who may also have been part-Cherokee. I don’t know anything else about him. Thank you in advance for any help anyone can offer!
