Query: I am researching the REECE line. My GGGgrandfather was Jesse REECE possibly born in VA ca 1793 he married Dicy BROWN born in Old Surry Co., NC 1790. Her birth is recorded on her death certificate passed down through her son Washington Lafayett REECE. Jesse and Dicy were married in Old Surry Co., NC. This family was in Rhea Co., TN by the early 1820. My GGgrandmother Almeda Dicy REECE was born in Rhea Co. in 1828. Their second daughter Amanda Elizabeth REECE was born in Lauderdale Co., AL, in 1829 and their son Washington Lafayette REECE was born in Sumner, TN, in 1833. The family eventually made it to Johnson Co., MO by the 1840’s. It is uncertain if Jesse was a mixedblood Cherokee but enough information was given to the State of Missouri for their decendants to be recognized as Indian or Native American through Dicy. I would like to find more about the parents of these two people. I do have over 500 of their descendants. Can anyone help? Thank you.

Query: I am researching my great-great grandfather, Lorenzo Dow Davis. Lorenzo was born in 1835 and lived in North Carolina for the majority of his life. From census records I believe they also lived in Tennessee for a short time. Lorenzo married Harriett Elizabeth Brown on August 10, 1859 in Madison County, North Carolina. An A. J. Davis was the bondsman. This is what I have been able to compile of the family from census data:
Unknown Davis married Sarah unknown b. 1815. Known children of this couple are: Lorenzo Dow Davis – b. 1835, Mary E. – b. 1836 (married a Brown), Margaret J. – b. 1845, Saphronia – b. 1848. Lorenzo fought in the Civil War and was known as Rebel. Children of Lorenzo and Harriett are: Sarah L. – b. 1859, Elizabeth Louise – b. 1860, Mary M. – b. 1863, Nanny R – b. 1865, Margaret J. Tennassee Davis – b. 1868 (known as Tennie), Algia M. – b. 1871, James Morgan – b. 1873, John Arthur – b. 1876, Henry D. – b. 1878, Nola – b. 1882, Claude Lorenzo – b. 1885.
My great-grandfather said that the family is only listed on one roll as Lorenzo did not want to be sent to Oklahoma. The roll was taken before my great-grandfather was born in 1885. Lorenzo has been listed as L. D. Davis and Lorenny Davis. I’d like to connect with anyone who may have any information on these people.

From the information I have, my great-great-great grandparents were John Hunt who married a Cherokee Indian princess with the last name of Longmeyer (I’m not sure if this is the correct spelling of this last name). If stories passed down are correct, her father was a Cherokee Indian chief. Their daughter (Hunt-Longmeyer)was named Pearl Maude Hunt and she would have been born around 1890. Pearl married a Samuel Woods, divorsed him years later and then married a man by the name of Bill Whitehead. Samuel and Pearl had a daughter Muriel Woods who was born in 1908 and married Ernest Johnson.
