Query: Looking for any information regarding My GGGrandfather Chief John White Eagle Cochran or Cockran, b: 1845 in Ohio, he is full bloodied Cherokee Indian. Supposed to have met his wife (Ella or Alice) in Canada at a pow wow in 1863 and they married in 1865. Query: Researching my grandson’s family tree for him for a graduation present in 4 years. His mother is Atoyia Ray Orders. Mother is Pamela Sue Orders (Pennington) from Auglaize County, Ohio. I have no contact with the family grandmother adopted Atoyia. Gandmother’s name is Mary Elizabeth orders she died in Auglaize County, Ohio but I can find out anything on the husband whose name is Orders, Atoyia told me she was 3/4 Cherokee Indian. Query: My father told me there was indian book, Cherokee in the family. I have found many family surnames in the native american rolls. Maggie Owens was my grnadmother she married Thomas Maud Miller. Both our families came from Kentucky and Tenn. I also found Samuel A Owens and Sarah, Martha, Sallie and many others on Dawes. My great granfathers name was Samuel Albert Owens. Query: I am looking for information on my gg grand mother. She was suppose to be full blood Cherokee. Her name was Ida Mae Baysinger. She was born 1-27-1870 possible in the area of Parsons or Quinton Kansas. She married my gg grand father John Anderson Vass in Quinton Kansas. He traveled there as a teacher from Monroe W Va. She had three children prior to leaving Quinton Kansas and two more children back in W Va. She had told my aunt’s and parents that she had some brothers back home. Query: Willaim Gautney or Bill or Billy Gautney. Trying to find the link to my GGGGrandfater who is Indian according to the cencus in Lauderdale County. Very very strong possibility he as the son of Chief DoubleHead. Gautney’s were on his land and GGGrandfather and GGrandfather were supposedly raised in his home on 72 before it was torn down. It was called the White House. Family has pictures of it for some reason. Willaim Gautney’s son was Samuel Gautney. Query: I recently entered a query about trying to find information of a Cherokee chief that entered into the reed family. I have spoken to my aunt who informed me that his name was Mathias and he maried into the Senton family which was from England, she was banished from her family and he from his tribe. I’m still searching for more information. He would have been my great great grandfather. My great grandmother was Mae Senton Reed, therefore I was told the wrong info about his last name being Reed. Query: I have reason to believe that I am an ancestor of the Cherokee. My grandmother Iva Annabell Johnson La Point, was Reed before she married my grandfather Charles Johnson. It has been told that her grandfather was a Cherokee Chief who married into the Reed family and took on the Reed name. I really don’t know how to go about investigating this. Anyone have suggestions. Query: I am looking for any information on my g-g-grandfather JOHN A. ROWELL. He was married to MARY ANN POWELL. Both, it was told to me are full blood CHEROKEE. I have found my g-g-g-grandfather on the 1835 Cherokee East of the Mississippi Census Index and he is listed with just one name; ROWELL. JOHN A. ROWELL was born in Alabama in 1835. MARY ANN was born in 1844 in Tennessee. JOHN A. ROWELL’S father was born about 1810 in Georgia. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Query: A few years back my grandmother had told me that my great great great grandfather was a Cherokee Indian Chief. I am assuming probably in the 1930’s or so. My Grandmother has since passed away and I do not know what his name was. I am pretty sure he was in Tennessee. My Grandmother’s maiden name was Taylor, but he was the grandfather of her mother and I do not know what her mother’s maiden name was. Query: My Mother-in-law, came to Massachusetts after leaving an orphanage in Oklahoma. Apparently the orphange burnt down she had trouble getting her birth certificate. I know her mom was Cherokee. I believe her dad was of Irish descent. Her mom died in childbirth so her dad placed her in the orphange. I would approximate the fire to have been about 60-70 years ago, but have tried to look into newspaper arhives but cannot find any information. I am hoping to somehow put together my sons lineage, showing Indian/Irish on his dad’s side and Irish on mine. If anyone knows anything about an orphanage in Oklahoma that burnt down I would appreciate it if they would contact me. Thanks

Query: I am looking for information about my great-grandmother, Fannie Lenora Lasseter Stone. Fannnie Lasseter was born in May of 1880 in Georgetown, Williamson County, TX. She married my great-grandfather, Dudley Earl Stone, on Christmas Day in 1898. They were married in Georgetown, TX. They had three daughters, Viola, Emmie, Mamie who lived into adulthood, and one, Winnie, who died at the age of two. Their daughter, Viola Mae Stone Ferrell, was my grandmother. My great-grandmother died on May 8, 1955, in Georgetown, TX. I am hitting a brick wall trying to find out who her parents and siblings were. I believe her father was born in TN, and her mother in TX. My father told me that he believes her parents lived in Coleman, TX. He also told me that my great-grandmother was part Indian. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Query: My Cherokee heritage begins with “Cherokee” James Smith of Chatanooga, TN. He had a son named David Smith. David’s daughter Sarah Ann (Smith) Grider applied (along with children) for the Cherokee Land Allotment in the late 1890s and was rejected. I’m interested in finding out if James Smith is on an earlier roll from Tennessee. His son David lived in Alabama and may be related to some of the Smith family there. On his WW!1 draft card, he wrote “INDIAN”. The “LEE” says he was from Virginia. My father’s middle name was also “LEE”. My grandmother’s heritage goes way back to the Delaware/Shawnee in the HOUSE line So this was an Indian family forever. I know that I am Indian, everytime I look in the mirror. My Great Great Grandmother was Sarah. It has been handed down through the family stories that Hugh was full blood Cherokee and that they were on the Trail of Tears. This we have not been able to prove but still looking. On Sarah’s death certificate her parents name was spelled Bear so not sure which spelling is correct. We have not been able to find any information for Hugh or Margarett Bare after the 1850 census. Hope someone has information before or since the 1850 census. Thanks so much.
