Query: Looking for a Katherine (Catherine, Kathryn, Katie) that was born in Humbolt Tennessee. She was born on a reservation. I do not have a maiden name for her, however she married a man with the last name of WELCH. I am assuming he was white? She had 8 children: Carol (sp?), Betty (sp?), Lela (sp?), Nancy Lorraine (born 1946), Debbie (sp?), Robert, Stephen (sp?), Sandy, I have heard all the children were born in Tennessee. Katie moved to California when Nancy was 12 years old (1958 roughly). Katie was at least 60% Cherokee from what we have been told. I have also heard that they would go visit relatives at reservations in Oklahoma and Arizona. This would be approx. between 1963 and 65 if not on-going. I have been researching this for years and really need some help! Any help would be appreciated. Please put genealogy in the subject line of your email.

Query: I am trying and have been to trace my roots. I can only get so far b/c I beleive at some point the name simply was changed. My grandmother is a RIDGE from Marion, Tn. Her mother was Josephine Viola Janeway RIDGE, father is Charlie Clark RIDGE, (related somehow). His mother is Nancy I think and Josie’s mother is Mary Jane RIDGE her father is David RIDGE but I think this is where the name is different. Maybe DAVISDSON, MCFEE, HOLLAND, I don’t know but they are supposedly ChErokee but maybe Creek. My grandmothers great-grandpa is supposed to be either Jordan or James, which would be David RIDGE father and the other whichever is his father? I know there is supposed to be a thomas as well way back but the indian names they did not know on the roll so they were rejected.
