Query: My grandmother on my dad’s side was named Suzie Posey before she married Thomas J Farmer. She was from either Birchwood, TN or Grasshopper, TN. She had a few brothers and a sister named Amarilla(not sure about the spelling) dad knew her as “aunt rill”. Any information would be helpful. She died when my Dad was 12 years old which would have been in 1924, she was supposed to have been buried in Resaca, Ga. next to her sister but has no head stone, she would have probably have been in thirties when she died. Query: I am looking for info on my great-great grandmother from Lamar County, Alabama who I understand was a Cherokee Indian, but that’s about all I can find out about her except that after my great-great grandfather died (William Boover) she went on to co-habitate with several other men in later years having several other children, half-brothers and sisters to my great-grandfather. My great grandfather, John O. Boover, however was left to be reared by another family and not many facts are known about Matilda after that.

Query: Hello! My husband is Cherokee and belongs to the Cherokee Nation in Tahlequah. I do not have a CDIB and do not think I ever will because I am having a hard time proving my Indian heritage. Do you know if the Cherokee Nation allows member’s spouses to belong to the tribe? I have heard some things about “adopted citizen” but that may have been an old practice. Can anyone help answer my question? Unfortunately, when you join, there doesn’t seem to be a guidebook of sorts given! When you weren’t raised in it, it is hard to figure it all out.
