Query: I am looking for my grandmother — Bonnie L. is all I know of her as a child — Her parents died of influenza in 1918 or 1919. Bonnie was born in 1910 in North Carolina. She and one brother I know of — Lloyd — were adopted by local townsfolks in Twiggs County, Danville (near Macon), Georgia, (the Ethridge famiy) when their parents were found dead. The parents were said to be both Cherokee Indians following the crops. There were possibly two other siblings, adopted by the Sauls or Sears family. I don’t know who her parents were or where they were buried, if indeed they were buried. I see Bonnie L. as a young wife with one child in the 1930 Twiggs County, Ga., census. She marked North Carolina as being her and her parents’ birthplace. In the 1920 census, she was a nine-year-old and her adoptive parents, Joel and Louise Ethridge (misspelled Ethridgt) put her and Lloyd down as being born in Georgia. Any help, hints or ideas would be appreciated.
