Query: I am seeking any information on King D. GRIFFIN (1812-1890), wife Anna BLACK (1810-1860), who had a child Mary Elizabeth GRIFFIN (1847-1931). Mary Elizabeth married George Marion HARRIS and had a daughter Martha Ann HARRIS (my g grandmother). I know that the GRIFFIN family was Cherokee, but I cannot locate any records of this. Martha was born in Martin, NC and died in Mackeys, NC.

Query: Looking for my great Grandma. Great grandpa is George Washington ADAMS b.~1881 Arkansas, married Martha EDDINGS. She supposedly died and then GGPa married “Sqaw” :,( No one remembers her name except maybe that it was Ollie. She is supposedly Cherokee, and/or Chacktaw and/or Chickasaw? Told she was full blooded Native American though. And my grandpa definitly had the look. 🙂 The only information I can find on the census is Dollie ADAMS b. 1910 (same as my grandpa) but he isn’t listed on the census and Dollie is? My Grandpas name is listed many different ways Ollie Vernon ADAMS, Ollie V. ADAMS and Jolly V. ADAMS. On his military card he lists his moms maiden name as WHITEHEAD. Please Help 🙂

Query: My great great great grandmother, Delilah BLACKSTONE MINTIER (June 28, 1846 Claysville, OH – December 12, 1927 Lucas, KS) married William A. MINTIER (January 7, 1868 – September 1921). We believe that she was Cherokee but do not know how much (full-blooded, etc.) and we know that that the last name PERRY is Cherokee but don’t know how much. We are also related to George JACK (March 4, 1849 Wayne Co. Indiana – November 7, 1932). We believe him to be Pottawatomie indian as he lived around St. George and Wamego, Kansas (Pottawatomie indian area). Can someone help me to find out? I am also related to William PERRY (misplaced the dates of his life) but my great great grandmother was married to him before grandpa JACK…I would like to kow if anyone really knows how he died?

Query: I notice that the STEPP surname appears in the Cherokee Nation. One branch of the STAPP (name later changed to STEPP) Family settled in western North Carolina in the 1700s. Perhaps there was intermarriage ? STAPPS came over in 1600s as indentured servants and settled in eastern Virginia.

Query: Martha Cagle, her English name married Billy Jack CAGLE. They had 2 boys, James ADOLPHUS and John THOMAS. For reasons unknown, Billy Jack abandoned family. Martha and the boys were sent to the Marion Co, AL Pauper Farm where Martha died in May of 1897 leaving the two boys to be adopted by the WIGINTON family. She is stated to be Cherokee. How can we prove this?

Query: I am trying to locate information on my great great grandmother. She was a Cherokee stolen by a white woman in the mid 1800’s in Lousiana. Her birth mother either was on her way to Oklahoma or away from Oklahoma to be with her husband (the birth father). She went through Louisiana and that is where the story ends with my great great grandmother taken from her own mother and adopted by a white couple. He was adopted by the HORNER family after his patents died, and as such, I don’t have much information or his real last name. This is the info I found online and would apperciate any help: 9. Rev. John BUNYAN HORNER [14325] was born 9 July 1891 in Cumberland County, North Carolina, and died of acute appendicitis on 24 September 1937 in Moore County, North Carolina. After the death of his parents, he was raised by Thomas HORNER and Clerkey COCKMAN. He married (1) M. Clarken? [last name unknown] about 1912. She was born about 1891 in North Carolina. He married (2) Linnie C. RITTER on 10 November 1912 in Hemp, Moore County, North Carolina. She was born 30 September 1891 in Moore County, North Carolina, and died 15 January 1962 in Moore County, North Carolina. Linnie is buried in Acord Ridge Church Cemetery, Moore County, North Carolina.
