Query: Artemesa Pryor DOB 05/19/1838, married Jacob Alexander Sigmon on 12/06/1859 in Lyking Co., KS Terr. She was his second wife. His first wife was her aunt, Elizabeth Powell. Artemesa and Alex (Jacob) lived in Linn Co. near LeCugne until shortly after the Civil War. They had 8 children. One of their daughters, Rhoda Ann Sigmon Dibler, was my great-grandmother. Family history has always said that Artemesa was full-blood Cherokee. I have a picture of Rhoda Ann and she looks very much like a Native American. Artemesa died 02/06/1875 in Benton Co., Ark. I have searched the Dawes list on Nail with no result.

Query: Elden Le Roy Hoyt born July 10th,1923 at Ringwood, Okla. to Glen and Goldy Percy Hoyt. There were 3 other children and Glen Hoyt has the #300 above his name on Elden Hoyt’s birth certificate. Elden died on July 29, 1973 at Palmdale CA. Elden was my father and I know that there was a set of twin boy cousins approx. age now would be around 53 years of age. Query: Mary Jane Swift: Born Aug 22, 1824 in NC. Married Tom W. W. Schrimsher. Moved to GA around 1848. The family was listed on the 1850 Cherokee census in GA. Mary Jane was listed as “half-blood”, though some sources indicate she was full-blood. This family moved to Lavaca County in TX around 1852. I am seeking any information on her parents or siblings. If you have any information on Will Roger’s mother, Mary America Schrimsher, you might have some mention of Tom Schrimsher, and possibly Mary Jane, as Tom was reportedly related to this Schrimsher line. Will of course be willing to share all information I have.

His great grandmother came over on the Trail of Tears. Not for sure of her name. My mother (Ramona Young/King) was born on Nov. 7 or 8 1955 at the Claremore Indian Hospital in OK. She was adopted and the adoption took place in Illinois. Her biological mother’s name was Betty Jean West (at least that was what she was told). She thinks she had a grandmother with the first name of Amy.

One of them was my grandmother. Her name was Lara Lavada Bass, she was born March 18, 1902 and died April 1936. She married Peak Otis Pritchett, they had 5 children one of which was my father. He was born Jan. 17, 1921 and died Jan. 29, 1946. All records at the county courthouse have been destroyed by fire. All the living relatives either won’t tell me anything or they don’t know.
