Query: Agnes McGill: Born in West Virginia in 1879. Parents: William McGill and Melinde Sweiger. Married to Frank Owen apparently in West Virginia; date unknown. Daughter: Ruth Owen born in West Virginia: DOB unknown. Also had son, Frank Owen, D/POB unknown. Agnes’ husband Owen, Frank died in New Jersey, circa l931-32. Agnes Owen then married a man named William B. Sampson in New Jersey; date unknown. Agnes Sampson died in Winslow Township, Camden County, New Jersey on Sept. 2, l963. I grew up being told that greatgrandmom Sampson was a Seminole Indian. Then a grad school professor told me that since she was born in West Virginia, she was probably Cherokee. Much info on my mother’s geneology is quite sketchy, as there were allegedly many dark, dangerous events (including the apparent murder of Frank Owen and his son of the same name) Most of my family members are too frightened to research data. In l997, I was told by a maternal uncle (who died in Florida later that year) that Frank Owen was also full-blood Cherokee.

Query: Baucom, Moses-Moses was born in 1833 in TN; married his first cousin Baucom, Lucy Jane. They both died in Hardman Co. TX (1917, 1919 respectfully). It is said they are of Cherokee heritage. I have been told they have Cherokee roll numbers, though we have not been succesfull at finding any of these on any rolls we have been able to view. There was a list found in a very small library somewhere in Oklahoma that showed a B. Baucom with roll number 393. I have no idea which roll this came from nor do I know which library had this information (the lady recently passed away that had the info). If any one could give any suggestions on how to go about researching this problem out I would greatly appreciate it. Possably does anyone know of this family?
