Seeking information on Casper Lee Thompson. Posting on this board by Diane Bennett in 2007 indicated that Casper’s father or grandfather might have been full Cherokee.
In the 1940 Census, Casper is married to Doris Birckhead and they have a daughter, Constance Marie “Lottie” Thompson, living in Washington, D.C.
Two years later, Casper served in the U.S. Army but strangely is listed as “single” with no dependents. It is unknown when the marriage to Doris ended.
Casper was born in Maryland in 1916 to Frances and Edith Thompson and his siblings were Rudolph, Constance and Samuel (a.k.a. Chapnan). Later, his stepfather was Frederick Cook and step-siblings were Fred, Jr. and William.
Casper died in 1979 in Jackson, FL and is buried at Riverside Memorial Park where his sister Constance Thompson Pope is also buried.
It is unknown if Casper was married again/had children, or if he and Doris had other children besides Constance (named after his sister). Doris was said to have had other children in the 1940s but their paternity or whereabouts remains a mystery, as does who raised their daughter Constance. In 1950 Doris was married to Arthur Western and had a son Nicholas Arthur Western.
