Query: I was recently told that Chief White Eagle is my grandfather. I’m 44 years of age and until recently I was led to believe my mothers parents were Goldie Smith who married Dr. Sutherland and latter Sylvester Neal who I was led to believe was my grandfather. I have enjoyed drumming and I love nature and have dabbled in herbs for years and alternative medicines. Everything I do seems to connect to a native way of life. I was raised on farms and ranches and I have worked in the forestry. I need to know if I’m Cherokee.

Query: NICHOLS – I am looking for information on my great-grandmother, Nora Nichols Adcock. Her mother was Cherokee but I don’t know her maiden name. I believe there were at least 3 children: Nora, Cora and a son (I don’t have his name). They lived in and around Altus, Arkansas, and both my great-grandparents (Richard Lee and Nora Nichols Adcock) are buried in Liberty Cemetary there. My grandfather went to Indian school in Crowder, OK for a while and played football there. His name was Halley Haskell “Hack” Adcock (“Mr. Hercules” back in school). Nora Nichols had 12 children, I believe, but only about 6 lived to adulthood. I am not interested in “registering” myself Cherokee (I have no cultural ties to that part of my heritage) but only want to learn more about my ggrandmother’s side of the family.
