John Alec Tims was my great grandfather, he was full blood Cherokee. I never met him as he died before i was born. I did know his wife and my great granny Tims. One of their sons was my grandfather named John Alfred Tims and he had brothers named Robert and Wesley Tims also other siblings i dont remember.

There is a John Alexander Tims married to a Tracy Matthews.
This couple had sons named Alfred, Wesley and Robert (James Robert Doss, but he went by Robert) and they lived in Bienville, Red River, and De Soto Parishes in Louisiana. Is this the family by chance?
This seems to be a good lead so I’ll include info about this family just in case.
Here is this John Alexander Tims’ gravesite:

In his WWI Draft Card his occupation is listed as Farming. He is described as tall with medium build, gray eyes and brown hair.
His parents were William B. Tims (sometimes spelled Timms) and Prudence A. Moore. This family can be found on the 1900s Census living in Bienville, LA. John A is listed as 21 years old. William’s place of birth is listed as SC. His parents are also listed as SC. Prudence’s place of birth is listed as LA, and her parents are listed as LA and SC, respectively (father, mother).
William can be found with his parents, John and Mary Tims, on the 1860 Census, living in Jackson LA.
Prudence can be found living with her mother, Nancy (Hardin) Moore, on the 1870 Census, living in Garden Valley, Smith County, TX.
None of John Alexander’s four grandparents show affiliation with the Cherokee people in their lifetimes. They appear to be from American settler stock. Most of these families moved to northwest Louisiana from South Carolina (Chester County), around the 1840s and 50s.
However, this is just based on your initial query. You’d still have to confirm whether this is your John Alexander Tims or not.
If so, you might be interested in the Hardin/Harden lines. They are well traced and go back rather far (to Revolutionary War and War of 1812 Veterans).

What can you tell me of Nancy Ellen Fryday Hardin? I believe this is where the Cherokee comes into play. Ive done a little research on my on and my mother says this is where we believe it comes from maybe through her mother.
