Mary Lusty

April 30, 2016 by southernseth 1 Comment

My great-great grandmother Mary Lusty is said to have been Cherokee but I am not sure. I believe she was born around 1900 in western Arkansas. She married Lum (Columbus) Stell and they moved from Conway County, Arkansas to Hickory Plains, Arkansas. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My grandmother’s maiden name was Clare Lusty and her sister’s name was Charity. My grandfather’s name was Rufus Clyde Fason and he married Clare first, and after her death, he married her sister Charity. Their location is in the very same location you are speaking of. Many of the Fasons now live in Conway, but El Paso in Arkansas is where my grandmother and grandfather lived, not far from Conway. It was commonly known that the Lusty family had a cherokee heritage. That is really all I know of this, and am curious myself since there is Cherokee implied on both sides of my family. I am currently 56 years old with brown eyes and slightly darker skin than most Caucasians. I have several pictures of the Cherokee background ancestors that helped me to understand that side of my family, but not for this side, other than we all seemed to share the same brown eyes and darker skin!
