I am trying to create my family tree and have ran into a block with my 5th great grandmother who was said to be “an Indian woman” (born around 1732) who my 5th great grandfather married in Bertie NC. His name is Thomas Rogers and he was born around 1730. His parents were Thomas Rogers and Mary Bird. He had a son William Allen Ro(d)gers born around 1770 who was said to also have married and Indian woman. The problem is I can’t even find any information on the “Indian woman” supposedly named Charity. I really want to expand my tree on that side but don’t know if there are any records out there on marriages between white settlers and Native American women. They were said to have moved to South Carolina where she died around 1805.

Hi – I share the ancestor listed in Ancestry as “Charity Indian Woman’, born 1732. I have been unable to find any more information about her BUT, my father did AncestryDNA and there was no Native American DNA, there was however, DNA from INDIA. There does not seem to be any explanation on his tree for that except the possibility that the person referred to is actually a native of India and not the American continent. I’m active on WikiTree (genealogical site) and my user name is Cameron-4617 if you want to reach out to me for more information.
