Annie McElfresh

October 4, 2021 by dougcfoster Leave a Comment

My great grandmother’s name was Annie McElfresh. She came from Licking, Missouri and was born around 1884. Her parents were supposedly Quiller G. McElfresh and Louisa Hunter (McElfresh), but Annie’s name does not appear on any of the census documents.

According to my mother, Annie was a Cherokee girl who was adopted by the McElfresh family as a child.

She went on to marry Benjamin Luther Thomason in 1903. Some of the census documents indicate that she was born in Tennessee. She died in Missouri in 1975 at age 90.
