Query: Looking for the BEAVER/BEAVERS line and I am not having any luck. This is what I do have. Minnie BEAVER was born November 1863, Texas. she married Jesse KINMAN, March 29, 1885, Erath County, Texas. In a letter dated 1977, it states that Minnie died on a reservation near Durant, Yarnaby Community, Oklahoma, buried in Yuba Cemetery. Father’s name was Jim BEAVERS. It is believed the family was Cherokee, but Mr. KINMAN (Jack, her son) said his mother was Regular Delaware. Minnie, returned to the reservation when she discovered she was going to die. She had a regular funeral and then an old Indian Chief performed ceremonial dances. The cemetery in Yuba is now on private property. No one is allowed on the property. Her grave was placed under a hugh Hackberry tree. The cemetery may not exist any more, because when someone went looking for it, they found the property the cemetery was suppose to be located on, was covered with heavy machinery. The man who owned the property was working on leveling, ect. Her death certificate is on record at the Durant Court house, Durant Oklahoma, which is only 17 miles from the Yuba Cemetery. It can not be read except the name is discernible. Jim BEAVERS the father of Minnie is buried in Oklahoma in Indian Territory near Ardmore. If anyone can help me with this family, I would be a very happy camper.

Query: I’m looking for any information that I can find in relation to Little Dove. What I know (from what I’ve been told or found) is that she was the daughter of an Cherokee Chief, she married William STILES/STYLES, and that her son, William Madison STILES/STYLES, is part of my ancestry. William Madison STILES/STYLES was born July 14, 1832 in Bodscott County, West Virginia. He married Amanda Mathis WYKLE/WYLKE/WIKEL (numerous other spellings I’ve come across). Amanda was born August of 1845 in Monroe County, West Virginia. They both died in Scioto County, Ohio. Their daughter, Mary Ann STILES/STYLES is the continuation of my heritage. She married John NEWTON/NEWSOME SLACK, and they were the parents of my great grandmother Mahala Victoria Slack WILLIAMS. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Query: I am researching my grandmother’s maiden name, FEW. She was from PA, but her great grandfather, Jacob FEW, or his ancestors, may have come from the south, maybe GA or SC. I know what when Jacob FEW showed up on a census in the early 1800s, he was a slave but when he came of age, he became a free colored person or free negro. According to relatives, my grandmother was a mix of Native American and African-American on her father’s side and European American on her mother’s side. I have a picture of her father, my great-grandfather, and he is definitely not white. I am really interisted in learning more about the Few family and related surnames NIXON/NICKSON, HALL.
