Query: I’m looking for the history of my great grandparents. My great grandfathers name was Willie Benton Green born August 10 1893 and my great grandmothers name was Eva Jane Yell born Dec 17 1905. I have tried on Ancestry.com but this part of the family drops off after my great grand father. I have thought I had found info on his father-George Thomas Green born in 1853, but all I have is the name. My Great Grandmothers parents were Mordaci and Cora Yell. When my mother tried to make a family tree when I was a child, she talked to her and she told her the name had been cut short from “Yells Across the Water”. No one in the family knew or knows who George Thomas Greens family was. I’ve looked on roles and census docs that I can find through ancestry but its pretty much a dead end. It was also just known that my great grandparents were cherokee, and they had some different ways about them, and stories are told about my great grandfather to all of us, I didn’t know him. I’m not looking for a card, I just want to know more information. As far as I know they lived in Rossville Georgia for most of their life. Wille Benton was born in Sequatchie, Tennessee.

Query: There is a tradition in my father’s family that an ancestor was a full-blooded Cherokee. Dad says it was his matrilineal great-great grandmother (and thus my great-great-great grandmother). In researching at Ancestry.com, I think I’ve found the woman in question, though I can’t tell if she was Cherokee. Her name is Alatheia Mullins, born in 1821 in Kentucky, daughter of Joshua Mullins (born in Pittsylvania, VA in 1756) and Phoebe Anna Robinson (born in Carter, Knox TN in 1779). Does anyone know if any of these individuals is Cherokee, and if so, if there is any documentary proof to that effect?

Query: I have hit a roadblock in my research, and I’m hoping someone has answers. I have found conflicting information after my 5th Great Grandmother, Christina Diana CHAPMAN. She was originally from the Carolinas, but may have died in Georgia. She was married to John CHAPMAN from Pickens, SC. They divorced, and he remarried Nancy Pulliam. Some reports say she was adopted by a man named TUCKER. Others say she is the daughter of Conseenee BUSHYHEAD. Still others have her linked to DRAGGING CANOE. She was born around 1778, and died around 1853. Speculation is fine, but I want facts. Please help!!!

Query: I’m looking for anyone that might have connections to my family that can tell me about my Cherokee blood line. I’ve been told by a relative that our Cherokee last name is Schor and Markham. I’m not sure if this is all true. Since a lot of women on my mother’s side of the family have either been adopted or did not raise their own children. I was not raised by my biological mother and from what I hear, my grandmother and great grandmother were both adopted. So, keep hitting walls at this point. My great grandmother remarried and changed her name to Mary Owens but was formally married to my Great grandpa Ray Morgan. My grandpa’s name on my mother’s side is Donnie Morgan. From what I’ve heard. My biological mother Donna Morgan (maiden name) has been married multiple times to different men and I might have other brothers and sisters out there as well. I have some relatives in Kansas City, MS and I live here in Oklahoma City, OK. Any information would be greatly appreciated, no matter how small.
