Query: My maternal Grandfather, Ezra Ray Nussear (b.22Mar1903) was a Native American, possibly Cherokee. His Father was John Henry Nussear (b.28Jan1873). His Mother, Ada May Limeberry (b.Jan1879). I believe Ada was Cherokee. Ada’s Father was Eli Limeberry (b.2May1839) and her Mother was Sarah Ann Daugherty (b.5Jan1844). Sarah’s Father was George Washington Daugherty (b.11Mar1811) and her Mother was Sarah L. Campbell (b.3Mar1815). I run into dead end with her, and the Native American Ancestor’s, so I’m not sure where to go with it. I know many of them are buried at Stampers Creek in Indiana, where it appears they settled before some of them came to Henry County Illinois. If you have any information or ideas, please don’t hesitate to contact me, thank you !

Query: I am looking for information on my 3 X’s Great Grandmother. Her name is Eliza Jane DUNLAP. The info that I have is that she was born in 1819 in Jefferson County, Kentucky. She was married to William GRAVES. She is part Cherokee Indian. Her daughter Lucretia Graves is listed in the Lewis county, Missouri History Society but it only says that she, Lucretia was 1/4 Cherokee. I would like to find my Indian ancestors but everything stops at Eliza DUNLAP. I believe her Mother was Elizabeth WILLIAMS and that she is 1/2 or more Indian. If anyone has any information I would greatly appreciate it. This family line has proven to be very difficult.

Query: My fourth great-grandfather, Jehu or John (Mc) RICE was born to a Cherokee mother and an English father about 1776 in Virginia Territory which then included West Virginia and Kentucky. He moved to Tennessee in abt 1800 where he married first Nelly Smothers in 1804 and second to Mary Gilbert in 1820. He moved to southern Illinois with many of his children to avoid prejudice against mixed bloods that he experienced in Tennessee (according to family history). I have discovered that mixed blood people often hid their Native American roots but knew the herbal medicine, stayed close to nature, had visions and lived near NA settlements, which are not on regular maps. Is there a map that shows where the NA settlements were in the late 1700s and early 1800s?
