Mourning Dove Banks 1735-1805
My name is Mark Banks. I am looking for info. on Mourning Dove Banks (1735-1805) full cherokee, who married John Banks Jr. (1740-1803) in 1762 in North Carolina. They settled near Asheville in the 1770’s and she ran a roadhouse from 1774-1788??? Any stories or info. would help !!!

Chestnut surname
I am looking for information as to whether or not my grandmother’s family was in part Cherokee or other tribe of Native Americans. My paternal great-grandmother’s maiden name was Cornelia Florence Chestnut. I was told she may have been full or half blood Cherokee by her daughter, my grandmother. My great grandmother was Mamie Ann Robertson. (who married William Herbert Watkins, born 1905, Ky) I have been told growing up she was 50% Cherokee. She was born in 1907 in Virginia. She never ever talked about her life as a youth and rarely of the past itself. There is no doubt she was Cherokee.

Ancestor noted in random genealogies as “Ewa Toyni.” I believe I translated it properly but am not sure. I’m looking for her, desperately.
