This is what I know. Born circa 1846. From my understanding Cherokee first purchased by a Coleman in the Fayetteville, NC area, who allegedly thought she was black. Sold to a Moses Cox (slave owner) to Cox Mills area/Ayden NC. Her son, Elbert, by owner born circa 1863.

William Presley Self to Catherine Rising Fawn Moytoy. Are my 4th great-grandparents also. My ancestors were mostly from Virginia. The Self line married into the Shifflett, Lamb and Samuels.
