James Samuel Cotton 1748-1820 and Sarah Bluebird Crouch married in or around 1779. They had a son Caleb Joshua Cotton 1780-1850. He married a Nancy Meredith 1784-1846 on: 16 November 1801 in Surry, North Carolina, United States. Any information would be nice to have.
We have know my great grandmother to be from the Cherokee tribe. We knew she was born in 1896 in either New York or Philadelphia. Her name was Aleka Runningwater. I was told that my great-grandmother Louella Elizabeth Cooper was of Cherokee blood. She married a Conway, and I know her father’s name was Henry ‘Cap’ Cooper. She was born in Robertsdale, Alabama around 1880. I know that area held a lot of Creek Indians but I also know the Creeks merged with the Cherokee.
