ᏩᏔᏂ (Ewatoyni) Eastern Band

June 23, 2017 by GWh Ewatoyni 5 Comments

Ancestor noted in random genealogies as “Ewa Toyni.” I believe I translated it properly but am not sure. I’m looking for her, desperately. Her father was Henry Rhodes (assimilated, obviously) and had a sister Caroline. Born 1833 in Wilkes County NC and married Pinkney Odom. Many more details but hope this will yield some help/feedback/suggestions in any direction. Other white associated names include Fry, Freeman, and alternate spellings (i.e. Rose, Rhoades etc) and Odum for “Rhodes” and “Odom.” Many thanks.

Hi! I think I know who it is! Pinkney Odum (1831-1913), his wife was known in records as Wilma Emeline Rhodes B1833. They were married in 1851 in North Carolina. Her mom was Mary Ann Hollingsworth (1795-1880) and her dad was known as George Henry Rhodes (1797-1870).
