Looking for info on Elizabeth Cynthia Carr who married Benjamin J Moss in August 1838 just prior to the Trail of Tears. They married in Lumpkin County, GA which was Cherokee territory. Benjamin is listed in a book “Whites Living Among the Cherokee” and they are buried in the Palmour-McClure cemetery in Hall County, GA. Silas Palmour was half Cherokee. Family history tells that “Granny Moss” was part Cherokee but they were never to mention it. Counting to 10 in Cherokee has been passed down to my generation (I remember most of it). I can find nothing on parents of Elizabeth Cynthia Carr who is shown on census records as being born in Georgia. They moved to Yancey County, NC after they married and later returned to Dawson County, GA. Anyone researching this line – please contact me.
