Crow Family

March 24, 2017 by CherokeeRose58 1 Comment

Searching for the Cherokee connection in our family.I am looking for information on William Jasper Crow born 22 February 22 1839 in Georgia.Died 20 July 1923 in Walker Georgia. He and his wife Mary Naomi Reece Crow spent time in Texas where their children were born. This family appears to identify as white but yet I think they are on the Guion-Miller Roll.Williams father is Isaac Crow married to Sarah Alice Cox,and her sister? Mary Jane Cox.I think it is them on the Guion Miller roll.Any help would be appreciated.Especially after being called Yoneg by another Cherokee group.

My Mother’s side of the Family were all from Walker Co., Ga. Lookout mountain, McLemore’s Cove area’s…She was Named “Crowe” her Father was named Walter Napolean, and her Mother was named Hixson (Hixon), Mollie J. Hixson, we also have Grandparents with the name of Ransom, Randolph, McDaniel, Fryar, Long, Dobson, Sively, and Miller. It is a “Known Fact” that our 4th Great Grandfather was Timothy Hixon (Hixson) who was a Cherokee Arrow Maker His Son William was a Deer Hunter who supplied Meat for the Eastern Boundry and who had already (like many Other Cherokee) Assimilated into the Mainstream of White society, and had even joined the US Mounted Gunman (Early Cavalry) to help support his Family. He later Married John Ross’s niece “The Original Francis Myra Nave”..there was controversy from Telequa that she never lived anywhere but Telequa,, but she did, she came from the Chatanooga Area.. John Nave’s Brother Henry, went to Telequa also on the Trail of Tears, he and his wife loved Francis Myra very much because she was a child of about 12 yrs old and was much help with the children. The Story is that when Henry & his Wife had a child, the named her Francis Myra as well…..anyone know any of this or have anything else to add?
