Oh, by the way, I DID find my Cherokee ancestors since I last came looking here. I had assumed wrongly that William Riley Tuttle was the Cherokee because I couldn’t find his father and family told me his daughter Rachel was Cherokee. But it was actually Riley’s wife Cynthia Thornsberry who had the Cherokee ancestry through her great-grandmother Rachel Terry whom she named her daughter Rachel after, who (along with myself then) was a direct descendant of Cherokee Chief John Ross through his Terry descendants. This is how my father and his siblings received the money back in the 1960s from some sale of Cherokee land. I was a child then, don’t know where this land was located, my dad said they didn’t get much money from it and I have no idea how they were identified as the recipients of the money. I’m still seeking the father of William Riley Tuttle though, born 1855 in Smyth County Virginia, is on the 1860 census there with his family, if anyone has any information. He may have descendants on here, since his wife was Cherokee. Thank you.
