I am trying to find out about James Harmon, who was married to Leah. Their daughter was Angie M Harmon (b 1884). We believe James might have been in the 2nd Cherokee Mounted Volunteers, CSA. However, we don’t have a middle initial and this is a pretty common name.

It appears that this James went also by “Matt,” although I don’t see a record that confirms the full middle name. James M. Harmon, in any event. He was born in GA about 1851.
2nd Cherokees mustered in Indian Territory in 1861. The age is a bit off. These men were mostly tribal members living in Cherokee Nation, not Georgia.
This might also be the same James M. found in Cherokee County, GA records, and living with his parent in that location in 1870.
