Henry and Sookie May

I am trying to find out about Henry May and his wife Sookie. I found their names on a Baker Application from 1924. Mary May Henson claims they were her great grandparents, and that they were full blood Cherokee. Her grandfather was Pryor May, and her father was Joseph Floyd May who lived in Murphy on or near Persimmon Creek. He is buried at Friendship Baptist Church in Murphy, NC. Does anyone have any information on this family? Thank you.
