Identify Grandmother’s Heritage

July 29, 2022 by gkoenigmft@gmail.com Leave a Comment

Hello! My father had been adopted when he was 5 yrs old. We met his biological father in the 1980s. This man stated that the reason my father (and his sister) were put in an orphanage (in the early 1940s) is because his wife, my dad’s biological mother, “kept running away back to the reservation”.

I’ve always wanted to find out if this was true and explore my possible native american heritage, but didn’t know where or how to start – until the internet came along.

My grandmother’s name is Edith Puckett, and she was from Georgia. But I think much of her time with the kids and her husband was spent in Northern Indiana or Ohio.
