My grandfather, Euill W. Long, Jr., born 7/25/1932 passed away last year. For as long as I can remember, he told me stories of his half-native father, Euill W. Long, (birth date unknown, but guessing early 1900’s). Euill, Sr. had dark skin and long silky hair that was down his back and stood at a solid 6’4″ tall – very distinctive traits in the family.
As my grandfather would tell me, his grandmother was 6 foot tall herself, with dark tan skin and long silky black hair down her back, just like his father, Euill, Sr. Her name was Ella Walls, and he believed her to be 50-100% Cherokee. He thought she might have been born around the 1860-1870s time frame, but wasn’t sure. She was from North Carolina for most of her life, but moved to the Delaware, New Jersey, possibly Pennsylvania area in her later years.
Any help or information on this would be so greatly appreciated!
Other possible surname besides Long and Walls would be Jenkins.
