Jemima Jane Smith Ballou

I am looking for information about a Jemima or Gemmima Jane Smith that married an Alexander Ballou.

Gemmima had a daughter named Mesena Lance (Ballow). Mesena had a daughter named Alma Boyd (Lance). Alma had a daughter name Ellene Ward (Boyd).

I have seen pictures of Gemima, Mesena and Alma and they are definitely Native American that Gemmima/Jemima/Gemima was once part Cherokee tribe. She married a frenchman name Alexander Ballou. I can find nothing about Gemima’s parents. Her last name says it was Gemima Jane Smith, yet she definitely does not look like any European (White) person with the last name of Smith. During Gemima’s time, I’ve read that it was not good to have ties with Native Americans, therefore, many of them changed their last names so they were not registered as Native Americans.
