Looking for the parents and ancesters for Lydia/Liddie and sister Betsy Hopper

March 16, 2016 by paulagrant 2 Comments

I am looking for any info on the parents and ancesters of Lydia/Liddie and sister Betsy Hopper. Lydia Hopper married Nathaniel Hopper and lived and died in Georgia. Betsy we do not know if she married and had children or not. We found an application for enrollment to the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma 1896 and 1897 from several nieces and nephews of Betsy Hopper and children and grandchildren of Liddie Hopper Wofford. Liddies daughter Sarah Wofford married William B Grant and lived in the Cherokee Indian Territory in Georgia. The Application states both Betsy and her sister Liddie were Cherokee by blood and lived in the Old Nation in Georgia. Betsy came to Oklahoma Indian Territory in the early 1830’s and died there abt 1839. Witnesses signed and stated they knew both Liddie and Betsy Hopper in the Old Nation and they knew Betsy in the Oklahoma Indian Nation as they were present when Betsy died and helped to bury her. They stated she should be on the rolls but it was never found. The witnesses were: John Ross, George W. Vann, Martin Ward and George Wilkenson. Correction, Lydia Hopper married Nathaniel Wofford.
