I am researching my mother’s side of the family and my great-great-grandfather is John Wesley Allred (b. 1852 in Black Mountain, NC; d. 1927 in Morehead City, NC). I was told that he was Cherokee, but have been unable to verify this information. I think his father was John Wesley Aldridge and his mother was “Alvina”, but I’m not sure where this info came from and I haven’t seen any sources or documentation other than old family tree charts. Can anyone help me?
