I am looking for information on my great great grandmother. Her name was Huldah Lovell born around 1883 or 1893. She married James Cantrell in Georgia. She had to pass away after 1910 and before 1913. I can’t find any more information on her. I have been told she was Cherokee Indian.

Her father was Bright Lovell, born in 1836 or 1838 (year varies) in Habersham County, GA. According to his Civil War (Conf.) pension application, he was born and grew up in that county. He was captured at Vicksburg. He lived in extreme poverty and had sold off what little property he had to buy supplies (estimated at about $50 around the Civil War era). He lived by farming, and was illiterate. An associated testified that he was old and “broke down.”
Hulda can be found on the 1900 Census, living with her parents Bright and Dorothy Lovett. They were in Habersham, GA at that point. Dorothy was quite a bit younger than Bright. Her parents were likely Ellis and Margaret (Phillips) Craig/Cragg.
These families don’t appear to have a link to the Cherokee tribe.
