Looking for information on Mary Eleanor Taylor; married to Joshua Taylor. Claims on my family tree state Joshua was married to a full blooded cherokee and Mary Taylor was his wife. I can find no evidence to verify that. Dorcas Taylor Holman (her daughter) was also stated to have Indian blood and she married Andrew Taylor; also believed to be Cherokee and on the Trail of Tears per roll of the Cherokee. I was told I had 1/32 Cherokee blood through my mom and would like to verify that. Dorcas Taylor Holman was my great great grandmother.

Hi, I know it has been awhile have you found anymore information about your ancestor? Dorcas Ann Taylor is my 4th great-grandmother and I have been researching about her for my family tree but I have not heard anything about her having a daughter named Mary Eleanor Taylor? However, Dorcas was born a Taylor to Joshua Taylor and Mary Eleanor Cooksey, who’s married name was Mary Eleanor Taylor. You might have mistaken Dorcas’s mother for her daughter. The only daughter she had named Mary was from her first marriage and she was named Mary Hannah Wood and married a man named Elisha H. Scott Jr. She is listed on Dorcas’s Application for Cherokee Citizenship in 1896 as Mary Scott.
The Andrew Taylor that you mentioned was Dorcas’s 2nd marriage and they were only married for about 2 years but they only produced one son from everything that I have found, a son named Andrew Taylor as well.
I hope any of this helps!
