Unfortunately, I can’t help you narrow down Olive Allen at this point. But, I can give you some context for the rolls, as they were specific to a time and place.
The last Eastern Band enumeration was the Baker Roll which was compiled around 1924. The majority of individuals that were alive at that time, and associated with the eastern community, were enrolled. Married women would be listed under their married names.
There is a record for Olive’s son, Jiles Jr, showing he was born in 1924 in King’s Mountain, NC. Also, a WWI draft record shows that Jiles Sr. was living in Cherokee County, SC around 1917. He was listed as married with a child at that time.
So, it is safe to assume that Olive was married to Jiles Sr. at that time and then it is simply a matter of looking at Baker Roll. There is no individual with the surname Duncan enumerated. She was not found on the roll at that time. There were a few rolls previous to that, but without a maiden name it would be impossible to verify. The western Cherokee used the Dawes Roll. And that was enumerated in the late 1800s, through early 1907. Very few people that lived outside of Indian Territory were included in this roll. You also couldn’t search this roll for parents until you narrow them down. Sorry, I don’t have much more for you. But, I thought context and explanation of rolls might help you.
