Hello. Rebecca Jackson (Daughter of John Jackson and Sarah, wife of Nathan Williams) is my 4th great grandmother on my father’s side. My father’s name is Arthur Alpha Barnes.
Rebecca and Nathan were the parents of Captain Thomas Jefferson (Jeff) Williams. He was pretty famous, so you can find a lot of information about his family online.
Rebecca was full Cherokee, and Thomas Jefferson Williams was entered into the list called 1986 Dawes Commission Index, under case number 4527 (see link below).

I hope this helps.
Tell me how you are connected to the family. Do you have any information or photos to share?
I believe Rebecca is my 5th great grandmother on my mothers side.

I didn’t see Rebecca Williams on the list at the link you sent, but I did see Nathan Williams and Thomas J. Williams. Nathan was on the list twice. How do we know which one is ours?? Also, do you happen to have birth certificates, or know where and how we can obtain them for everyone between our generation and theirs? Thank you for being so helpful! I can’t wait to see pics!! Researching our family tree has been so much fun!

Does anyone have information regarding John Jackson’s wife?
As for registering with the Cherokee Nation in OK, blood quantum is not required. However, it is required that one provide evidence of familial connection to someone who was registered on the Final Dawe’s Roll. To have been on the roll, the ancestor would have had to be living in NE OK by 1899 and lived there until the roll closed in 1906. I am not sure if the Eastern Cherokee Nation in TN has a similar organization.
Hi, I am Linda and I too am looking for the Cherokee link to the Williams Family. My 3rd great grandfather is William Day “Bill” Williams. My line is…
William Day “Bill” Williams
Blake Thomas Williams
James Munroe Williams
Ida Lavina Williams
to my mom Wilma Jo Burns Calaway
to me.
My email is calaway.linda@gmail.com and would love some information. My mother never knew anything about the Williams side of her family.
Hello,
Have you found the information you were looking for? I realize this question is 7 years old, but I thought I would post anyway. Rebecca Jackson Williams is my 5th great-grandmother. Her son Capt. Thomas Jefferson “TJ” Williams is my 4th great-grandfather, who is registered on the 1896 Dawes Roll as Cherokee.
My Williams lineage is:
Rebecca and Nathan Williams to
Thomas Jefferson Williams to
Daniel Webster Williams to
Polly Jane Williams to
Loretta (Polk) Scroggins to
Alma (Scroggins) Gorman to
my dad David Gorman to me
I have seen both that Rebecca was listed as half Cherokee and full Cherokee. Not sure. I have seen listed that her father, John Henry Jackson “Cherokee Jack”, was Cherokee, but then I have seen also that her mother, Sarah Goodwin Jackson, was Cherokee. If anyone has found documentation on Rebecca, I would love to hear about it. I’m not registered on Ancestry or any other site, so if you know which one is the most helpful let me know.
