I have been told that my 2nd g.grandfather was part Cherokee. His name was John Carter, b. in AL. According to a g.granddaughter, his father was Richard Carter. One relative has a pic of what is supposed to be one of the descendents, in Indian dress. John was b. abt. 1797. He married Mary Polly Donoho & moved to Smith Co., TN, after the birth of their 1st son, Andrew. Any help appreciated!
