Nannie Griffin was an orphan adopted by James Monroe McClure (b. 1840) and Kate Tahee (b. abt 1852). She was enrolled as a full blood Cherokee. Age about 17 in 1900.
Nannie’s mother was named Nellie Owen (married), and her maiden name was Buzzardflopper. Nellie and Kate were half-sisters. Nellie’s father was Martin Buzzardflopper.
Nannie’s father was a George Griffin. But, it gets complicated because Nellie had been legally married to an Owen and had the child with George outside of her formal marriage. Not much more is known about him. They were both said to be dead at the time James and Kate were getting Nannie enrolled, about 1900. However, there is quite a bit on Martin Buzzardflopper.

If you look at the Cherokees on the roll with the surname Griffin, you’ll notice only a couple of full bloods listed:

This represented Nannie, and a man named Jack Griffin. He was 23 in 1900. His father was a James Griffin. They were from the Canadian District. This is also where the McClures and Buzzardfloppers were residing as well. I would George was related to this Griffin family. But, this is just theoretical unless you were able to find more documents confirming the connection.
If you are looking for modern descendants, you might want to look for the lineages coming from Nannies children. The 1920 Census shows them as follows:
NAME AGE
Cale Sheahart 15
Nellie Sheahart 12
Katie Sheahart 10
Willie Sheahart 5
Lillie Sheahart 3
It appears that Nannie was dead by the 1930 Census (John is listed as a widower). Also, John was a White man, not a Cherokee. His father was from France, and his mother from Texas.
