My great-great-great grandfather, Stephen Thomas Slater (“Bull Neck Slater”) was rumored to be a Cherokee Indian. He was born in TN January 1815, and came to Texas around 1837. He was a Texas Ranger, Indian Scout, and married Mary Gilleland of the Texas 300 families. He spent most of his Texas life farming in Milam County, TX. I would love to connect with other descendants and find out if the Cherokee claims are true. My DNA shows ZERO, but I do not provide a broken male line.
