Trying to find family

I’ve always been told that my mother is half cherokee and I’ve been trying to find that half of her family. Her father’s name was James Lark born:10/1/1932 died: 6/1979 in Kingsport, TN. His father was Jessie Lark Born: 05/4/1917 and his mother was Vinus Fields born 2/10/1910 my family appears to of come out of Kentucky. I’m not trying to get into the tribe I just want to know info.
